Dixboro Village Green, Inc.
Accomplishments

In 2012, the Dixboro Village Green, Inc., a 501(c)(3), was organized with one of the goals being the rehabilitating and restoration of the Dixboro Village Green Schoolhouse and the Dixboro Village Green as a community gathering place.  With your help and support, we hope to continue the restoration of the Dixboro Schoolhouse and renovate the Dixboro Village Green by:

Upcoming projects:

Community

• Supporting the continued operation of the Dixboro Farmers' Market.

Schoolhouse

• Continue tuck pointing and repair of the brick work
• Restoring or replacing the windows.​
• ​Adding water and septic.
• Adding a heating system.

Village Green

• ​Extend the sidewalk on Plymouth Road in front of the Green.
• Continue to update the landscaping of the Village Green.​

​Competed projects:
2015 - Opened up the parking along Short Street. 
2016 - Removed invasive and dying trees.
2016 - Installed new Dixboro Village welcome  
             signs.
2016 - Installed an official Dixboro Village Green
             sign.
2016 - Replaced the schoolhouse roof and belfry.  
             The schoolhouse bell made operational.
2016 - A mini-library was added to the Village
             Green.
2016 - Painted the schoolhouse fascia and eaves.
2016 - Restored the schoolhouse doors.
2016 - Added a new Market Sponsor sign.
2016 - Planted new sugar maple trees on the
             green. 
2016 - Made additional improvements to the
             parking on Short Street.
2017 - Replaced Washtenaw County Historic
             District signs on the Village Green.
2017 - Repaired and tuck pointed the north wall
​             of school house
2017 - New picnic tables for the Green.
2019 - New TimberFrame Pavilion added to the  
​              schoolhouse
2019 - Repair the interior plaster and repaint.
2020 - Replaced front porch, railings, stairs and sidewalk.
2021 - Installed new farmers market sign.
2022 - Storage Shed added to to the Green

Scheduling and completion of these projects depends on the availability of funding.  Part of these funds come from grants or matching grants.  The pursuit of grant money is an ongoing mission, but there is no guarantee that grants will be available or awarded.  Please consider making a donation - whether small or large - to help restore this community treasure.  Donations are tax deductible as a gift to 501(c)(3) nonprofit Dixboro Village Green, Inc.  Please see our Web page for more information.
